Friday

I am very much enjoying reading "Where Am I Now", authored by Mara Wilson who played Matilda in the film of the same name (that would be "Matilda" not "Where Am I Now"). I am about half-way through the book but it made me want to watch the film again - which I did the other night - enjoying again the tale of a girl who takes (back) the power It was interesting watching it having read about behind-the-scenes and that Mara has a design credit for Matilda's doll! Why the interest in Matilda? We will be seeing the stage production over the weekend and I wanted to revisit it ... I tried to borrow the book from the library but it is currently already on loan, so I'll have to wait until it is returned. I haven't read it before, nor any of Roald Dahl's works ... not that I can remember leastways. They may be on my reading list for the coming year.
Ja, one of Sooz's friend from Secretarial College, was on the Coast yesterday and Sooz had arranged to go to dinner with her. She'd made up the spare bedroom as well and it was only when Sooz was showing her that Ja said she couldn't stay - she had an appointment back is Lismore early the next morning and she hadn't made any arrangements for her animals overnight. (D'oh ... that's assumptions for you ... but she will stay next time!) So while I hadn't arranged to have dinner with them, I did ... sending my apologies to M ... and An and Syl who, as it turns out, were meeting M for dinner too. That at least made the decision easier - knowing I wasn't leaving M in the lurch.
Sooz had chosen the dinner venue - the Japanese at the end of the street (almost) which she loves but doesn't often get to frequent but after having their Terriyaki Chicken and Rice Set this evening - we may be there a little more often ... if we can do without our Friday nights down at the Broadwater having fish and chips - which is a lovely way to ease into the weekend especially at the end of a long week. It was packed down there tonight ... but I was determined that we would do it this time ... the last time we were there, we weren't able to find a park. Around and around and around the block we went until we turned around and went the other way .. and that was when the car space opened up on the other side of the street and we were able to slide right in there. The line at Harley's was fairly long but at least there was a slight breeze down by the water and the wait (from #62 to #77) wasn't totally unbearable! The seagulls were out in force but they seemed more interested in whatever was in the water than filching people's chips. They hovered over the water - no easy feat given the headwind - before dipping beaks in the water and flying off with something. In the twilight we couldn't actually see what they were getting but they kept coming back for more. Yes ... it's a very nice way to end a week.
