Mi on the Monkey Bars |
We set off from Jannie this morning on The Big Road Trip ... and who knew there would be so many different views along the way? Like cotton (?) at the side of the road - as though bits of the load had blown off a truck and caught in the first roughage they hit - grass on either side of the road - for miles and miles - more on the Southern side. No doubt Sherlock Holmes would be able to tell more ... which direction the trucks were travelling, how many, their tonnage, how long ago ... but it was fun to speculate.
There were some vistas that would have made great photographs but they will have to be memory pictures (click, click, click) unless we see the same phenomenon again on the drive ... otherwise we would have been stopping the car again and again and again. One day I will have to rig a camera so I can just point and shoot while I'm driving - without touching the camera of course!
We didn't see any kangaroos along the way ... and we were pretty happy with that on the last of the drive into Roma. We still had daylight - about half an hour, but given there was much shadow on the road, as well as a good amount of glare from the setting sun - especially as we were driving into it - and there was no way around that - it would have been difficult to see any kangaroos that happened onto the road.

The Coffee Club - Chinchilla |
We stopped in Chinchilla for lunch and found The Coffee Club there ... and Buffalo Wings which Sooz and I shared ... yum! The woman who tended us (sit down ... it's table service) was kind enough to confirm we should make Roma before dusk ... and as it turned out ... she was right.
The Big Rig at Roma was closed by the time we arrived and our best efforts to get there (well, inside) were thwarted ... by this, and then The Big Rig show not being on ... but there's always breakfast tomorrow before we set off for Mitchell and then Charleville.
