Thursday

Note to self:  It may seem like a good idea to work on optimising battery performance on the mobile phone as you think about getting ready to go to bed - but it really is not!  When it's 11:30 and you've only just worked out what would have been fairly straightforward instructions if you'd looked at them hours earlier, the nonsense of it becomes apparent. D'oh. But I did manage to empty the cache (the goal of the exercise) and tonight I still have some battery left (about half) when the phone was almost running on empty last night ... hence my interweb research and the late night.
Work was good today - helped by having bypassed Maccas and going to wild Bean for my morning coffee. It wasn't bad but I may give Zarraffas a visit tomorrow ... just for a change.
I am really missing those afternoon naps - and lots of other folk at work are too. He came in this afternoon suggesting a couch would go well in the middle of the N.E.T. office - and none of us could find a reason why that wouldn't be a great idea except that we'd have to climb over and around it to move in there! Small price to pay really!
But that didn't stop me from racing home for a nap before Sooz and I met M for dinner down the road.  We went to Charlies except it's no longer Charlies: it is under new management (possibly ownership as well).  One of the first things the waitperson asked was whether we were ready to order yet ... and for me it just wasn't the same after that.  When we did gain her attention a while later and she acknowledged our presence she continued on with serving meals and whatever else she was doing in the kitchen before finally coming out to take our order.  The one noticeable thing about she and the pizza maker behind the counter was that neither of them was smiling.  Sooz reckons it is the same waitperson who was there previously (she is much better at faces!) and she may just have been having a bad day ... which could be but that's no reason to take it out on the customers. yes, I suppose she may not have been but it did feel to me as though we were'imposing on her time ... and good will. And she didn't bring us glasses for our chinotto ... and the lasagna was too wet! But besides that, it was a lovely evening.
M came back to Jannie after and we exchanged Christmas gifts .. our first opportunity since Christmas Day. I don't think I'm over-reaching here, but I think everyone was happy with their gifts (I know I was).
