Well ... the chance for giving in to preshacookaphobia has come and gone ... because Jannie now has it's own Pressure Cooker ... actually, it's a multi cooker but one of the functions is "Pressure Cooker". I'm looking forward to using it - once I've finished reading all the (safety) instructions and have decided what to make as the "inaugural dish". I have a feeling it's going to be lamb curry and that will be okay!
Who knew that today was going to be the day? Not I ... until Sooz and I were puttng a plan together for a fun-filled Saturday ... don't get me wrong, there were bound to be little jobs in there ... and when we were thinking about where to have breakfast, it all fell into place ... if we went to Bundall we could have breakfast at the cafe in the Harvey Norman complex carpark ... and go looking at "small appliances". Before we left Jannie, I did some quick web searches and thought we had decided on a product - although I had still to check the reviews. On the drive over, I had the idea of ringing my brother who has been using a multi-cooker for a few years to seek his advice. He was happy to give it and said that his Kambrook KPR800 was fantastic ... much more so that the units his kids have. Sorted! Except the 800 is no longer available. But there was an 820 and that's what we decided to get ... which was good because the reviews for the other model we had seriously been considering were not fantastic. JB Hi Fi - one of my favourite "go to" stores - had them in stock but not, as it turned out, in their Bundall store but the person who assisted me there put in a call to their Harbourtown store and one was being held for us. Ask for Steve, he told me, he's tall and blonde and ... wait ... I have a photo of him ... and sure enough there, on the side of a Dyson vacuum cleaner box ... was Steve! I was a bit worried that I should have taken a photo so I could remember what he looked like but when I arrived at Harbourtown, it wasn't that hard to pick him up at all ... his name tag gave him away. When they rang, I didn't think I would have one, Steve told me, they sell out almost as quickly as we get them in. I think it could be the price, he went on ($129) or, as I told him, the good word of mouth for the model.
But there are a lot of directions which go with it and I want to read through all of them before I approach the appliance with my masterful gaze! We are going to have to make more room in the kitchen for storing these appliances .. it's getting a bit crowded in there now.
Mouse is currently in hospital after having a minor operation and we went over late this afternoon to visit. She is in good spirits and in no pain - quite different from when she went in.
