Ute fire on the Reserve.
We had an interesting start to the morning yesterday. I had just snoozed the third (of three) alarms when I heard a loud "whoomp". l wasn't sure where it had came from and took a quick tour around the house ... all clear. The whining high pitched noise that started not long after seemed to be coming from outside and I deduced it could have been a car accident. It did turn out to be a car but it was no accident.  As we now know, a ute had been set alight on the reserve behind Jannie. It had been stolen - in a car-jacking at knifepoint last week in Southport. The owner had tried to retrieve his mobile phone from the tray of the ute after being forced out of the cabin at knifepoint, and he was dragged several metres before his ute sped away.  Unfortunately the vehicle was not insured.  Hopefully the photo I took, published in the Gold Coast Bulletin with the story, will help with the Funding page to help raise money for the owner.  But it was quite a start to the day ... and thankfully it wasn't the sound of the plumbing blowing up which is what Sooz suspected at one point.

NSFW?
Rex and Sarah came to work today ... for a play date with Dobby (Amy's Valentines Day present from Morgan).  You would recognise Dobby from the Harry Potter movies and Rex and Sarah will be familiar from the Jurassic age (or one of those dinosaurs periods at least).  The girls in the room had a busy time with Rex and Sarah while I was at lunch ... I suppose at one point (except for the different time periods they inhabited) dinos could have been man's best friend ... but I think it may be a stretch
Busy hands were also needed for when my click-clack perpetual motion toy fell off my monitor riser.  I tried to pick it up the right way so it wouldn't tange ... but that was a fail.  For the rest of the week Am and Ke have been trying to sort it out and Am was close one day ... until I said "give me a go" and she told me "nooooooo" but I didn't listen.  So, it's now a little more tangled and at this stage we're thinking that the only remedy is going to be to cut off the threads and restring it with some new fishing line.  Unless we perservere ... but I can't see that happening at all.  I'm planning to take in the dipping bird next week ... to sit where the click-clack balls used to. I'll put them aside for moments when someone wants to have another go (unless Ka remembers to bring in some thin fishing line ... and I look up some re-threading optons on  the interweb).
