Saturday

Rainscape on Friday evening.
That's a job well done ... and it has been on the to-do list for a while so it is good to be able to mark it off ... and, for a change, it's not my tax that we are talking about. The great news is that we're not talking about returns, we're talking about non-lodgments which, ironically, still have to be submitted ... but they're in the mail now so it's all good.
It's been a long week .. if for no other reason than that there were five work days rather than what have been five short weeks in a row (we all liked that!).  And another week behind us means that Longreach is just that little bit closer ... well, timewise at least ... it's not like it's getting any closer geographically.  I have started researching in earnest and I can tell you now that this is going to be exciting! There is lots of information out there ... thank goodness for the interweb and the challenge will be in what we can fit in to the schedule ... there are a couple of must-do's so far, including the Courthouse Hotel in Mitchell, once run by none other than Mouse!  No doubt it has changed over the years but it will be interesting to see how much!
At work, there was a bit of fun in "the room" this week ... especially catching up with what had happened in the week I was away. There was apparently an involved discussion about beer and bear - and who knew it those two words would sound exactly the same to some folk!   There were a few discussions about the word "moist" and a promise by Ke that she would throw a glass full of water over the next person to utter the word ... we were good, we only mentioned words that contained "moist" rather than the word itself ... and we all escaped the drenching until just after lunch when Amy pushed it too far ... and the look on her face when Ke let loose in her direction was priceless ... especially as the cup was empty ... a well thought out ruse by Ke to get the reaction without the mess.  Bravo Ke, Bravo!
A new Zarraffas has opened near Aldi on Olsen Avenue, Ashmore, and am trying it out now.  This may be in the same calibre as me not realising that the teens are so called because they have the word teen in the years (thirteen, fourteen, fifteen etc) but who realised that the napkins in Zarraffas could perhaps be described as "coffee coloured" rather than brown.  It wasn't a bad match for half-strength flat white tonight ... which is probably the only reason I twigged to it!
Mmmm...coffee...napkins
After the accident with Sooz's bedside lamp last weekend (or was it before that?), we have invested in some new ones from Bunnings.  I'm not saying we paid a good price for them but two globes (not included) cost more than one of the lamps ... oh wait, that could just mean that the bulbs were pretty expensive!  They look good in the bedroom and the surviving Ikea lamp has been moved into the living area where it will continue to produce a muted relaxing glow ... not bad since it is over 10 years old!
While it was expected to rain solidly for the entire weekend, we seemed to have received the worst of it while I was driving home on Friday night. It's never good to be motoring through driving rain ... and even much less so during congested traffic on the M1 at the end of a week that has been five working days long!
