Saturday

Here we are at Friday afternoon again and it's good to be home. Thank goodness the traffic in the Motorway wasn't quite as bad   It's been a busy week - starting with a visit to the skin doctor on Monday morning. The good news is that my nose is healing well - the other news is that I  now have multiple stitches in my right ear - the bit I asked Dr T to have a look at.  He did and he obviously didn't like what he saw because he quickly took up his marker pen and set to work on my ear  - and then led it and me down to the business end of the surgery. I have come to be less than fond of that area! But at least the blocking needles in the ear area are way less painful than the ones in the nose ... especially the big one (that lasted a very long or very short twenty seconds - depending, I suspect, on whether you were giving or receiving it!)  The whole thing took about forty minutes by the time the area had been sterilised, chopped, sutured and dressed ... and I was in the office by ten.  So, that's another ten days of keeping dressings dry.  Someone could come up with something that would make it easier to do that ... there is just something that seems a little dangerous about having a plastic bag anywhere near your head ... I know we have joked about it at work a couple of times but truly I would much prefer it if there were a teeny-tiny shower cappy-thing I could pop over the ear.
Otherwise the week was fulsome but uneventful.
Work was work and we managed to have some laughs in "the room" but also managed to get through a fair amount of projects, orderings and enquiries.  Of course, more could have been achieved had time not been awasted ...  I fear we have lost sight of some of our processes and why they were instigated ... hopefully we will re-find our way out of this space - and soon because I find the absence of process quite disconcerting.
I am researching Longreach and other areas in mid-Queensland and it is fascinating both how little and how much appears to be out there.  I was reading about Winton which appears to be closer to Townsville than any other major centre.  I have to find out now about the Dinosaur Stampede area south-west of Winton - and how to get there without having to drive over 65km of unsealed roads.  Hmmm.  I don't mind someone else driving us over them ... I'm just not that keen on it.  More research needed.
