Wednesday

We have received our instructions for the 2021 Census and, if we know where we're going to be on the night of 10 August, we are able to complete the Census, or our small part of it, right now. We think we know where we'll be on Census night - with the lockdown and all – and that would be at home, but you never can tell.  I'm not sure that I appreciate the concept of pre-completing the Census. How can it be an accurate snapshot of the population if people pre-fill it. I can understand why the forces that be may not want everyone accessing the Census website on the 10th of August - not after the site crashed during the last Census - which may or may not have something to do with cyber security and/or international hackers and/or not enough bandwidth/data/ storage issues.

It's here. It's here. Our new washing machine was delivered today – and within the advised delivery window! I was suitably impressed with the three guys (all with face masks and all maintaining their 1.5m distance where possible) who delivered our new machine, an LG 8.5kg top loader, and took away our old workhorse - but not before we'd done one last check to make sure we weren't inadvertently sending any of our laundry with it. The question now is how long it will be before we do our first load: I'm going with Friday, since that was when we laundered last week. I'm just hoping the missing agitator isn't going to cause an issue. Just joking. That's a feature, and one of the reasons we chose it.

We made it down to the Broadwater again this morning - together with a whole heap of other folk who are also in lockdown and just out for the exercise and to collect a cup of coffee, tea, donut or whatever. None of the tables were in use today - making a change from Sunday. There was one lot of folk congregated on the sand, drinking coffee and chatting, which is good - because even if they were not keeping to the lockdown "rules" it meant the cafe could not be implicated.

We were so early this morning that we were too early to get a coffee from Downtown Deli on our way home.  We usually get one from down at Charis, but given how long the line was down there this morning, we gave it a miss.  So we stopped in at Little Barista – the coffee is always good there too, and this morning it was no different.

We are still enjoying the Toyko 2020 Olympics coverage and, thanks to TK, we now know that there are two Channel 7 coverage streams so if the boxing cones on again, I'll have another channel to watch.
