It was fantastic to catch up with TK this morning on Skype! It has been a while! She and TPZ (what does the P stand for - Sooz and I seem to have momentarily forgotten) are both well, enjoying the start of the New Year, the Cricket, their new yellow Hyundai Veloster ... and their 30th anniversary! Congratulations! Sooz and I are only three years behind them at this stage - although given the very nature of time, it's unlikely we will ever catch them!
Then it was off to The Markets - our first time in a few weeks as we were in Toowoomba the weekend before Christmas, and they haven't been on since. It may be that some folk are still away but it didn't seem quite as busy there today. Or maybe people have just decided to come later or not stay as long. The coffee people have changed - again? - and the coffee stall at this end of the Markets is now run out of a caravan. They do have disposable cardboard 4-cup trays though, but the coffee is 50 cents a cup more expensive and we no longer get the very generous discounts we were given by Shelley and the folk two lots ago. We'll have to put into the murse more often to cover - or increase the contribution rate. D'oh! Fl and Mi are still overseas - no-one is quite sure when they are returning - and in FI's absence I elected to note down the coffee order - and then, much to my own surprise, I put on my "big girl pants" and went down to the caravan to place the order - determined to let whatever lack of organisation just flow by unheeded. It's better that way! Otherwise I have been know to get quite upset! But all was well, and M helped carry the cups back to the table. The Cafe balcony area was still locked when we arrived so we had set up on the forecourt -a better choice on the day as it was all in the shade and there was quite a pleasant breeze. It also meant it wasn't as far to carry the coffees ... and that Ni had no trouble finding us when she arrived later.
Everyone was in good form around the table today ... there was much wishing for a Happy New Year (this being the first Markets of 2017) and plenty of catching up to do. Te and Da were back from two weeks in Sydney. Luckily Da has fully recovered from the food poisoning she contracted on the way there ... and from the sounds of it, that's something she doesn't want to have to go through again. And to add insult to injury we all know what a foodie she is ... but what we didn't know until today is that her mother was a chef ... no wonder she has such good taste ... and loves to cook! She is a classic cook, she says, which is one of the reasons she doesn't use a pressure cooker ... that and the fact that it scares her. From what I hear, she is not alone in that ... although a quick look on the interweb suggests (a) there is no word for pressure cooker phobia and (b) if you approach your pressure cooker with a masterful gaze, use it according to the instructions, and have a newer model, you may survive the experience. The good news is that while I was looking that up I came across a couple of items which look as though they will be very useful when we get our pressure cooker. Hmmm ... it may be time to start thinking of a name for it. I believe "Sasquatch" and I are going to be rather good friends.
OfficeWorks is still having a special on the Frixion pens (0.7mm) - they're currently half-price - so I picked up a couple more of them today, and another three InkJoy Gel (no-smear) pens. And to round off my purchases, I picked up some more Whitelines paper ... it is, they suggest, the latest technology bringing together your physical and digital notes. If I can actually convince myself to write on such lovely paper, I will give the digital part a go.
