Monday

I saw a rainbow on the way to work the other morning and it was a wonderful thing ...  and it filled me with much joy.  And then I must have been thinking about something else because I looked up ... and there was a rainbow and it was a wonderful thing and it filled me with much joy.  It's instances like this that suggest how busy we make our lives, how short attention spans can be, and that you really do need to have a cup of coffee to start some mornings!
But there will be no drives up to Yatala this week because Sooz and I are on a staycation ... in that we are staying on the Coast but not necessarily at home.  We have booked into units at Burleigh, where we have stayed previously, and it is marvellous.  It is raining today but that's okay because we managed to get our walk to the Surf Club in before the rain started - although we did notice the ground and seats along the way were wet - and that's not counting the ones that were being repainted this morning!  There are all manner of people out there ... not as many as yesterday mind .. but enough!  Free Tai Chi was on in the park this morning and there were a fair few people going through the movements (for real ... not pretending) - mostly older women but a good smattering of others as well.  It was wonderful to watch ... but we won't have a chance to see the next session on Wednesday because we'll be up at home ... well, I will be ... Sooz will be at her Meditation course.
There's nothing quite like being near the ocean for me ... just looking out over the water to the horizon and the expanse does my soul good.  It always amazes me how much the water changes from one moment to the next and how it looks so different depending on the light and the time of day.
And it never doesn't amaze me when I come out from the bedroom here and see the view out the glass doors onto the balcony ... water, water, everywhere!  There goes that thing again where your mind fills with other things and we can just "forget" to be mindful and aware of our surroundings.
Yesterday was our first full day here and I set the alarm for 5:30 so I could do some sunrise shots.  Who knew that even though that's when the web said that's when sunrise is, it wasn't?  Or maybe it is ... but that's not when I saw it rise ... that was some time later ... but it was well worth waiting for ... seeing the beach come alive with active folk - and the changing colours in the sky.  Just lovely.
We didn't make it to The Markets yesterday ... but I was ready on time for the Skype call with TK!  And I should get credit for that even though she isn't back from Cuba until Tuesday - and we're not back online until next Sunday.

Ams at work has been telling me about the coffee - very excellent! - at the kiosk downstairs at the Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club and that was where we went for breakfast after my non-call.  It was good ... so good we went there again this morning.  Next time (tomorrow), I will take a sippy mug with me so I can bring one back and have it as I sit watching the ocean do what it does.
I ran Sooz up the Coast so she could go chanting last night and then waited for her at the Tavern ... and that's where M found me.  She was bearing gifts ... Anzac Bikkies from Mouse - and they are so yummy I fear they will not last long - and (thank you Daphne) - banana cake sans walnuts!  Can holidays get any better?
