Sunday

We are the proud owners of a new lawnmower and a lawn trimmer.  We fell into Bunnings on the way back from breakfast at the Ross Edwards Garden Centre aka Daffodils (used to be Cafe) 63.  Breakfast was good - it is such a lovely setting there - and we were obviously enthused to do "garden-type" stuff.  Sooz bought a new pot for a plant and a couple of figurines - a cat and a fish.  Then, off we went to Bunnings - ostensibly in search of some bulbs for the outside sensor light:  just in case it wasn't working because the bulbs have given out ... but strange they should stop working at exactly the same time.

While we were there we decided to look at the electric lawnmowers ... I had seen they were going to be on special at Aldi - and I thought that was yesterday - and I was there, but I couldn't see them (and I had been going in every Wednesday and Saturday since I saw them advertised in the brochure they offer you at the checkout).  So, when I originally saw the ad, I had checked them out online at Bunnings and knew they had comparable models.

I like the way Bunnings have staff roaming the aisles to help and Daniel was wonderful.  He showed me the various models ... and the lawn trimmers - and how they had battery-operated versions in both, with interchangeable batteries.  Sold!  Because I don't have power tools with batteries from any of the major brands, I was able to go with his recommendation for both.  And we did end up getting the new bulbs ... or I thought we did.  Somewhere in between putting them in the trolley ... missing having them scanned at the register because we concentrated on the big box items (including a new misting fan) - realising we were doing involuntary shoplifting, taking the bulbs back for scanning and payment, then putting them back into the trolley, and then unloading the trolley into the car - again concentrating on the big box items, they went missing.  My thought is that they are still sitting in the trolley because I cannot remember taking them out - and I don't think I had them in my hand, or put them in my backpack, on the way to the car.  Ah well, I guess it just means another trip to Bunnings.  I really do want to try the light with new bulbs before I call the electrician about replacing the sensor light ... although maybe there's a solar sensor light we can use.  Hmmmmm.

The batteries took 75 minutes to charge which meant that I had time to do two-thirds of the yard this afternoon.  I will get better at not giving the front lawn too close a cut now that I know it looks better on the "2" setting.  I'll get to work with the lawn trimmer as soon as I find my safety goggles - and the grass dries out enough - since we had almost torrential rain at Jannie last night ... I told Sooz that was because I had mowed the lawn but I'm not sure she believed me!

Was Cafe 63 ... now Daffodils 63 ... a nice setting for breakfast.
