Thursday

I met Jo for coffee at Zarraffas today and it was amazing how folk were all over the place with their vehicles in the car park and the adjoining petrol station. The problem/opportunity was that petrol there was less than $1.10 per litre while at other nearby stations it was over $1.50 per litre.

The first indication that something was screwy:  the woman insisting on reversing almost back into the parked tanker truck and Ravi - and not taking no for an answer.  So I waited until I could drive around her and then again around the gentleman in front of her who seemed thralled (that would be a word I found in The Stand this week) caught like a deer in headlights.  Hmm... and I suspect they didn't get much better. Just before we left, we noticed a car was parked on the walkway into Zarraffas rather than in an actual car space.

We had another TV night with M last night and have now finished Episodes 2 and 3 of The Queen's Gambit. It is an amazing series and is keeping us engaged; so much so that Sooz asked me if I knew how to play chess. I could have foreseen that, not because I'm precient but because there have been loads of reports about burgeoning chess set sales since the show launched.

We had Laksa for dinner from Tasty Noodle - the same as last time except this time we asked for it to be "hotter" -"medium" they called it - and it was definitely better!  I wonder if we could tolerate the "hot'' version.  It may be worth a shot next time around ... I'll just make sure we have milk and ice cream on hand should we (okay I) need it to control the flames.

Aiden hasn't been back to replace the roof tiles yet - he's been having some trouble sourcing replacements.  And because he hasn't been back, it means he hasn't yet taken away the old solar hot water system - he needs to come back with his trailer because the tank and panel won't fit in his van.

The renewal notice for the strata insurance finally arrived. I only had to ring them on Monday, and then on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday.  After discussions with the neighbours, we're going to go with the same company again this year.  But I will have another go at getting an ''apples for apples" quote - we couldn't find one last time but a lot can change in a year.
