Thursday

Where to go? Where to go? Well, we thought we were going to the water and we were already parked, out of the car and halfway to Cafe Gold Coast when we realised that we had actually decided to go to Cafe Alfons at Chevron Island: we both had a hankering for the beet sausages they do there. We've asked and they're only available wholesale (d'oh) - so if we want them we have to go there - until we find an alternative. Mind you, we love Alfons so it isn't a chore to go there.
When we got back to Jannie, it was time to do: more laundry. It's a brilliant sunny day on the Gold Coast which is odd because my brother has finally made it over the border and into Queensland now that the Co-Vid restrictions have passed.  He usually brings rain (and lots of it) with him. We are looking forward to seeing him. It's been almost a year since he was last up this way. He hasn't even seen RT get! We did the laundry in two loads - before and after breakfast. The first load went out on the washing line - and the next load I took to one of my new favourite places: the laundromat. While I was in there a police officer came in and had a look at the drinks machine, felt his back pocket (for change?) before walking out again. For a moment I thought about offering to buy him a drink - but before I could he was gone. It got me to wondering - do police officers get free drinks here like they do in the U.S. (on television shows at least, I'm not sure if it happens in real life.)
