You have to love neighbours who bring your bin in for you ... especially when they take out your bins too. I was surprised this morning when I went out and St had put our recycling bin out ... hmmm ... I didn't even realise it was recycling this week. I really should make a diary note of that .... or start looking at my diary since it was already there. That means, and this horrifies me ... that we've had the milk crate for the 10c recyclable containers sitting on the lawn at the front for the past two weeks - OMG where did that time go? I had left the crate there because I was checking how long/quickly the grass grows. I thought it would be fairly easy to tell ... and I was right ... but I really didn't think it had been there two whole weeks!
The rain continues ... and there is so much of it! I've been looking at some of the photographs on the news sites on the interweb - a house floating down a river, signs where only the very tops of them are visible, cars being swept off causeways, bridges completely underwater! Waterfalls have been spectacular with the additional volumes but there have been some not quite so spectacular events - like the loss of stock - and now there appear to have been human casualties - at least one in NSW in a car caught in floodwater. It is a difficult decision I suspect when there is a flooded road between you and your destination ... says one of the folk who walked through a flooded creek in the Mooloolah Valley back in 2011. We were lucky - none of us was injured - but in retrospect we could all see it was a very stupid thing to do.
Nigey is keen to make it out into the rain - and actually managed to leap out the front door as we were coming in on Sunday night - balancing bags, umbrella and the meat tray. She took the opportunity to dash out - and went straight around to "her" window searching out whatever she usually spends hours looking at! I'm not sure she found it though. I scooped her up and took her back inside. I'd thought that was the escape effort for the moment - which is why I was surprised when she came thundering down the hall at breakneck speed when I opened the door to take out the rubbish a little while later. I was able to quickly close the door before she launched herself at or through it! She certainly keeps us on our toes!
Ravi is so good or fuel consumption and it seems a shame to have to fill up now that petrol is nearly $1.70 per litre! I know I could have filled up at any point in the last week - except that I was waiting for the price to come down! Ah well ... next time!
Holding onto Nigey to stop her escaping. |
