Now, where did I put those face masks? I know I have a pack in the back of Ravi but I was sure I had another pack in the house somewhere ... and I thought I knew exactly where they were ... but no! Due to a new CoVid cluster in Brisbane, all of Queensland is now wearing face masks in situations where proper physical distancing cannot be maintained. This safeguard is scheduled to be in place until 5pm on April 1. Meanwhile, in Brisbane, they have the additional requirement of being in lockdown until then. It's interesting listening to the staff at the cafe ... they don't known whether they should be wearing masks or not ... they do have them, they just don't know whether they should be putting them on or not. They delivered my coffee and toast at (long) arm's length ... to be on the safe side. It will be interesting to see if we are required to wear at Volunteering this morning. When the Office was fitted out last year, the desks were configured/assigned so the minimum social/physical guidelines were met ... so as long as everyone stays where they should be ... and keeps their distance in the breakroom and common areas, it may be okay. I did check with our wonderful Admin person yesterday and she was saying that, if needed, they will be providing face masks. I wonder if people who call in to the Help Line will notice if we're speaking to them from behind masks?
The mask requirement came into effect at 5pm last night - and after a good deal of consideration, we decided to give Monday Night Trivia at Seagulls a miss. When I rang up to cancel our table, and check on our table bookings for the coming weeks, Marilyn told me that, due to Easter and the Public Holidays, there would be no Trivia next Monday ... nooooooooo! Just as well we went to Trivia at Nerang RSL on Sunday afternoon otherwise it would have been way too long between games. This probably means we will be staying away from Trivia on Wednesday night as well - it's difficult to carry on quiet conversations through face masks ... and given how many folk come to WNT, there's no way physical distancing could be guaranteed.
The rain is back ... just a gentle constant drizzle so far today after some quite heavy rain during the night. When I was putting the rest of the rubbish in the bin this morning I remembered I have been meaning to clean the weeds out of the run-off water drain to the street. There are some jobs I just feel more comfortable with if I'm wearing gardening gloves, so I'll dig them out when I get home so I can tick it off on the "to do" list (and yes, of course I will need to put it on there first!) There will be no mowing today by the looks of this, but A and B were done late last week so they should be fine. Area C is a different story ... but since it's out the back and a different grass which doesn't seem to grow as thick and tropical undergrowth-like, it should be fine for another couple of days. (Where did I put that machete, or maybe a scythe/sickle would be better.)
I'm not quite sure what Nigey does once we close the bedroom door behind her when she trots out at night (no, she still isn't allowed to be in the bedroom with us overnight) but I don't think she's always sleeping. I was up just after 2am last night (no, not woken by the rain but it is how I knew it was raining) and as soon as I opened the bedroom door I heard her galumphing (like running, only more excitedly and faster and possibly a bit ungainly) up the hallway! I managed to get the door closed - quietly because I wasn't sure if Sooz was awake - before Nigey could bust in to the bedroom and throw herself under the bed ... she knows we can't get her out from under there easily and she is good at resisting all efforts to coax her out.
And speaking of "out" Aunty M was over the other day with Mimi's harness and managed to clip it on Nigey quite easily and lead her outside. How exciting for Nigey to be outside again - and that makes twice in the one week!
