Well, what another busy week ... although if you ask us what we've done, we're hard-pressed to answer it ... unless we mention that we have been to Trivia three times (Sunday afternoon, Monday night, Wednesday night), off to the medicos a couple of times for scans for Sooz, the dentist for me, and ... let's see what else ... hmmm we had a wonderful lunch with the usual Friday crowd today. We had popped down to Pacific Fair to have a look at what we could take home from David Jones (yes, we do still have a gift card for DJs left - one of our Wedding presents ... nearly three years ago now!) and decided to catch up with the others while we were there. We were a smallish group - only six of us, but there was spirited conversation - mainly about CoVid and the current "vaccines" although, on the lighter side, there was a wonderful video that Az shared of a rather naughty cat who wouldn't leave someone alone as they were doing prayers.
I've managed to get down to the Broadwater a couple of times this week - pretending to take photographs but actually to soak up as much Vitamin D as I could. I managed to have a coffee and a fruit salad from "Pelicans" - I think that's the name of the coffee shop that operates out of the beach-side of Charis Seafoods - when I was there in the middle of the day, waiting for the Pelicans to come in for their lunch - I am still trying to get that one shot of a pelican flying over the sandbank with its shadow, and it, in perfect focus. It continues to be a work in progress. And I am always on the lookout for raptors ... I caught this sea eagle (?) just after I'd put on the 150-600mm lens - which was lucky because it was a fair way off!
We managed just one more episode of "Call My Agent" this week and a lot has changed since the end of Season 2. I am eagerly awaiting our next session and trying not to sneak ahead without the others. This is easier because I have started a new series, "Away" with Hilary Swank (and others) who are setting out to be the first folk to land on Mars. There are some interesting twists and turns and I cannot imagine what it would be like to be locked up in a rocket in space for more than two years with lessening communications with significant others way back on Earth ... the further they are from home, the longer it takes for emails and texts (???!!!) to get there (and here).
Plans are afoot to go to the cinema (the first time in a while) to catch up with some of the excellent fare on offer. I am trying to get us to go to Gold Class (or equivalent) so we can have our coffees and any munchies delivered as we relax in our recliners (and try not to fall asleep because they are so comfortable).
Other big news is that T and C have welcomed their new son into the world. There were more than a few moments of concern immediately after the birth because of his blocked airway but the medical folk sorted that out. AJ had to spend a night in a humidicrib in intensive care with a feeding tube and close observation but now, two days later, he and T have been sent home.
It's time to get the mower and lawn trimmer out again at Jannie and I have been watching more instructional videos hoping to learn how to get a razor sharp edge without actually having to buy an edger or, if I were to go old-school like brother W, an axe.
And speaking of brothers, we had a letter in our mailbox earlier this week from Gary, who lives locally, who could not visit us in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic but wanted to make sure we didn't miss out on finding the answers to life's big questions. Door-to-door (Jehovah's) witnessing has definitely changed over the years. Two things though ... personally, I would have liked the letter to be handwritten (rather than typed) ... and signed. Oh ... and a third, how good are the JW's in keeping up with technology ... the pamphlet included in the letter included a QR code - alongside a 2014 copyright notice.
Rounding off the week (since I'm now doing weekly posts here) during one of those sun-soaking sessions down at the Broadwater, I did manage to snap a pic that ended up in today's Gold Coast Bulletin. Happiness is ...
